Welcome to Tropical Island Dreaming
I have been thinking and planning for several years to retire and resettle in the Philippines. I have taken a number of steps to be sure that when I finally jump the pond I will be ready financially to enjoy my retirement and visit the many interesting places in the Philippines and south east asia. I want to do more than just live I hope that to some extent I can also live it up.
I have posted in several categories so I can keep all the discussion on a topic in the same area. I’ll add other categories as needed. I hope to share information and thoughts about retirement with others. I would also like to hear your comments on the various Citys and Provinces in the Philippines. The links to the categories are listed on the right side please feel free to look them over and make comments or ask questions.
So welcome to Island Dreaming. Read what my thoughts are and feel free to comment about them good or bad. No one has to agree with me. Hardly anyone ever does. The only thing I ask is keep it clean and don’t get personal. I don’t know everything about this subject by a long shot but I hope through this blog we will all learn something new.

Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays. If you are lucky enough to be in the Philippines at Christmas time it is always an enjoyable experience. I am sorry I have been slow with new posts I have had some very important personal business to attend to. I will try to post one more before New Years Eve and then I should be able to make several in January. So Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone wherever you are.

Well I lived through my flight and I am now in Cebu City. I took a few pictures and I will make a post about my trip in a few days. In case anyone cares. 
I will be doing some traveling and I will be sure to take plenty of pictures for future posts. It took me a couple of days to recover but I am fully functional now. Stay tuned for the next updates.

It’s been a couple of months since my last ramble so I thought I would trot out a couple of my thoughts. I am getting enough content here that I am going to be reorganizing a little bit. I am going to try adding tags to make it easier to navigate around in here. In a few more weeks I will be making my annual migration to the Philippines. Hopefully this will be the last one before I retire. I have enough of my preparations completed or far enough along that I will be ready to go by the end of next year. I’ll be taking more pictures while I am there to make new posts and additional picture pages. I will be traveling to a couple of new sites and revisiting some I visited before so I will update the old posts or possibly make all new posts. I have a couple more in the works now for August. There have been more viewers so hopefully someone out there is getting something out of this.

It’s been a while since I updated this page. In just a couple more months I will be making my yearly migration to the Philippines as I continue preparations for my retirement. I should have a lot more pictures to post as well as a couple more places to post about when I return. I have added a new Link Category. I now have links to some groups doing charity work in the Philippines. If anyone is interested in assisting these groups in their work I am sure they will appreciate it. I hope that some of the people who read this are getting some useful information.

Well I’ve been a little slow with new posts lately. I have a couple in the works that I will try to get posted in the next few days. I add updates to my posts occasionally as new information or questions come up. I will be making a page that lists the latest updates so you don’t miss new information. Makes it easier to see what has been added. I hope the readers will speak up with any questions they have that they don’t see information on here.

Well the new year is well begun. I have made a few new posts and added some new links on the links page. I hope you will find them helpful. I have several posts in the works I should be making some new posts soon.
I see a lot of people have been passing through the site. I hope some of you will stop long enough to let me know if what I am doing is helpful. Also if you have any questions about a topic I have not addressed please ask me. If I don’t know I’ll find out or send you to someone who does know.

I just wanted to wish all the readers here a Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year. It has been a while since I spent this time of year in the Philippines. This is a very interesting time to be there. I hope everyone enjoys their holidays no matter where they spent them.

I added a new page containing links to more detailed information about the Philippines. There are only a few right now but I will add others as I find them if they contain information that is useful. My visits have been higher so I hope that means that more people are finding useful information here.

Well I made a slight change to allow comments without registering. I’d really like to hear from the people reading this about whether they found the information helpful. I have been slow in making new posts lately due to personal business. I am in the Philippines now and taking lots of pictures to add to my posts.
